Cabell Schools Partners with Jessica Huff and Jessica Kern Foundation to Inspire Youth


Huntington, WV - Thursday, August 5 the First Lady of Marshall University Football, Jessica Kern Huff, spoke at the Cabell County Board of Education’s Principals’ Summit conducted at the St. Mary’s Center for Education. 

 

The event kicked off a new partnership between the Cabell County Schools and the Jessica Kern Foundation, which provides scholarships for underprivileged kids as well as motivational speaking for schools, non-profit organizations, small businesses and large corporations. 


Dr. Ryan Saxe, Cabell County Schools Superintendent, said, “Jessica’s message to our school leaders was inspirational and timely as we prepare to welcome our nearly 12,000 students back to school. Her passion for learning, leading and empowering our youth is a message that embodies our school district’s mission. We are so fortunate to have Jessica and her family in our community and look forward to working with the Jessica Kern Foundation in the coming year.”


Jessica Huff says her mission is to lead, serve and inspire the youth starts with the leaders the Cabell County Schools.


“Whenever we get the opportunity to gather and unite for fellowship and a goal driven purpose, all of our students are enriched and benefit,” said Jessica. 


Jessica Kern Huff was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and played professional basketball in Europe for many years. She transitioned into coaching after her professional career in basketball concluded and was Tennessee State’s Head Women’s Basketball Coach for three years. After leaving TSU, she transitioned into motivational speaking and fundraising for scholarships provided by Kern’s Kloset, an entity of the Jessica Kern Foundation.


The Jessica Kern Foundation plans to provide local students within the Tri-State/Huntington area future scholarships by raising money through local fundraising initiatives. The objective is to provide assistance to students in need, when transitioning from their high school experience to future collegiate endeavors.
